All We Love is a bit softer, more emo, a bit corny for the band's standards. It's Converge losing some of their mojo in favor of a more digestible, less ferocious, less innovative, and slightly overproduced sound.

Sort of agree, even though AWLWLB is one of my favs, but I do think you have to factor the band's age into it a little. Bottom line is they'll never be able to go as hard as they did in the 2000s again, so adding in more melody and dynamics is only natural I suppose

I will add that I discovered Converge in 2010 after the Albums of the Decade list came out, so AWLWLB was the first album they released when I was absolutely obsessed with the band so I guess it's hard for me to think of that album super objectively. TDIU, however, I did feel that way about so maybe that's what it was like for everyone else haha

It's just converge doing dumbed-down converge, with more basic song structures and instrumental performances in an attempt to appeal to a broader audience

Yeah SA 🐩 your first is always gonna be special, I feel that way about Jane, but also No Heroes because it was my first Converge ‘new release experience’ and very exciting as a result.
P.S. I’m pretty sure my CD case is fuuuuucked re NH which is a shame, but I still cherish it.
