I truly adore everything about this but the track that gets me is thing with feathers. Just knowing the meaning and the lyrics and the melody throughout I get chills

I am not, for better or for worse! For what it’s worth, I went into this discog run totally blind (…deaf?) having barely heard anything by ETID previously. So I had no real biases and I’m reasonably good at not letting critical scores affect my personal opinion - I just listen, rate what I’m feeling, then on to the next one. At the end of the day, GUTTER PHENOMENON was my highest rated.

As far as why… I dunno, it felt like the most memorable to me. The grooviest, the most comfortably dynamic, the one that had actual standout tracks instead of a turnstile of homogeneity. That’s just my opinion of course, but I can’t argue with my gut 🤷🏼‍♂️ The run from ‘Bored Stiff’ to ‘Guitarred and Feathered’ is (imo) the best run in their entire discography and probably the only handful of tracks where I experienced active enjoyment instead of (mostly) ambivalence.

tec your post intrigues me to revisit this band more than anything else on this site
