Man, I mantain the production work here is the strongest point. Imagine Ulcerate having this kind of production... 0_0. I've heard jazz records less dynamic. Absolutely gorgeous

this site is the only place I've ever seen Ulcerate's production criticized and I find it baffling. they sound pretty awesome to me. same with NeOb.
I mean yeah this is awesome all around

My fav Ulcerate, Shrines, is highly marred by a compressed af production. It's almost unlistenable at certain points because of its loudness. The vinyl sounds so much dynamic... I don't understand those decisions of puttin the brickwalled mix on CDs and make the good, dynamic one only available through vinyl...

Everything is Fire's production is perfect for the swirling hellfire atmosphere it creates, but I prefer the organic clarity on this
idek if I prefer it for metal in general, but it's so fkn impressive

i would for sure sacrifice my family if it meant most metal records sounded like this

I think a big reason why dissodeath has been hitting it big lately is that if really takes advantage of death metal’s grime and really expands upon the genre’s sense of atmosphere

Scene consisting of talented players using their chops to make discordant technical jams to the chagrin of stringy-haired, acid-washed jeans-wearing purists is pretty m/ tbh

You're not wrong about the masterful production here, but I don't know that it'd work as well for Ulcerate. There's a suffocating relentlessness to some of Ulcerate's work and I feel like this went for a different atmospheric vibe.

Ulcerate should stop throwing their brickwalled masters into their CDs and give us their vinyl masters instead, agreed.
