But it is better than Wildlife

Wildlife for me at least is hard to top. The lyrics on Panorama are great as always, but I have to say that for me it lacks the 0.5 rating in terms of emotional transition.

I feel like Panorama was an attempt to marry the passion of Wildlife with the maturity of Rooms, and they got all the maturity and like 95% of the passion. That extra 5% is what keeps this from topping Wildlife, even though it's definitely my AOTY.

One listen and this rivals Wildlife as their best. Might even top that for me tbh. Really haunting, emotional and powerful stuff.

Ok, I think I’ve listened to La Dispute’s discog enough the past month or so to definitively rank:
Panorama (4.5)
Wildlife (4.5 — this is so close to Panorama and has higher highs than that album, but Panorama is incredibly consistent from front to back while this one wavers at times)
Somewhere... (4)
Rooms (3.5)

Hmm. This is decent but not a patch on Wildlife (so far - will have to relisten)

It was pretty immediate for me, whereas Wildlife was more of a grower. They’re nearly equal though imo. Both are really fucking great.

You Ascendant kindof bored me initially, but holy fuck is it a grower. Amazing song.

Revisiting this for the first time since the spring, and it is still wonderful.

You Ascendent, Lights On The Hill by Cult of Luna, another mystery song from an older, I think reasonably high profile artist, and a synthy post-punk song I made in 2016 all built to the same motif
COINCIDENCE?
