at least we established that beats are far more important than raps if you want an enjoyable/repayable track

when people talk about the beat these days compared to the 90s yea they usually mean the whole damn thing. the track's the beat's the track, the song's the record's the song.

it depends on what the artist/artists are trying to focus on. Saying one part of the song-writing process is more important is weird, unless that's legitimately the intention of the project.

Well no, the thing is I like to diatinguish elements I like more than others in songs. Like the first minute of Drake's Over My Dead Body, that sample/piano track are so fucking good, much better than the actual beat of the song. We all do this when we talk about music, pick out particular moments and instruments/samples/synths/beats etc. Seems like a generalization to me but it's all good, tbh I just wanna talk about how fucking awesome Unlocked is. I think it may be my favourite Denzel project. Every track is awesome, especially love the '90s aesthetic

could be generalisation, could be semantics, could be within the context of whatever the fuck is brought up. I'm all for picking instrumental tracks apart but since in hip hop it's usually a two-man team - producer and rapper - they usually divide it by the work. the production is all-in-one so now the "beat" includes the piano, the synths, the drums, the percussion, whatever else that's in the pot.

it really doesn't matter. sometimes talking with producers about shit is annoying unless you're in the know.

Need a few listens for this new EP.... production is definitely way different and refreshing for Denzel but im not jumping to say it's his best thing just because it's old school sounding
