I ain't even white and I think it's great seeing different coloured people wearing ethnic clothing. Doesn't bother me one bit.

'For reference, the 2000-2009 decade list was posted in June 2010, so expect a similar timeline here. Think summer 2020.'
I think this is welcome news, as it gives me time to hear some early decade stuff that I completely missed (let's be honest with myself, I wasn't exactly paying attention back then) and perhaps cobble together a half-baked ranking of my own. If it was out in Dec then I'd have zero chance. It makes sense to play catch up during this period, especially given that I'm already committed to the 'no new releases' thing from the start of 2020 anyway.

Looking back at that discussion on the previous page - it’s interesting people are concerned about recency bias because I have exactly the opposite problem. Using just my current top ten of the decade as a barometer, there are currently no albums in it released after 2016. I find it much harder to put newer releases ahead of older ones that I’ve had years and years to develop a connection with. Several of those albums would not make the top ten if they had come out this year or even last.
For personal decade lists, I don’t think cultural or industry impact should factor in much - leave that to the publications. If the cultural/industry impact actually factors strongly into your personal opinion of the album, sure let that factor - but for me at least, in most cases it doesn’t. Expect there to be no politics in my list, if or when I ever do post it.

"concerned about decency bias"
you mean recency bias? I thought you were talking about her cultural appropriation thing, saying we have a decency bias lol

I don't expect an intrusion in my top ten decade (those have to be mainstays) but I'm happily slotting 2019 stuff in the top hundred. Agree that a personal list works best if it's oriented towards personal taste/experiences rather than cultural impact.

I'm trying to work out what being concerned about a 'decency bias' would entail... all for the lack of decency, or being against those that have the virtues of decency clouding their artistic judgement? The latter in this hypothetical scenario, I would presume.

Boney's primary concern is the indecency of dat ass.

I think if I were to vote for her on the decade list, I'd pick one of her earlier albums. Meaning Same Trailer Different Park. Meaning Merry Go Round. Meaning the only good song this decade.

At this point I prefer this album to Same Trailer, but “Merry Go Round” is still far and away her best song.
