@Lichtbringer I'de say this is a standard metal album length, it is almost identical to MoP by Metallica in terms of album-length and number of tracks (both 8 tracks long)

I will never understand how people 1.0 technically proficient bands.

Because technically proficient music does not necessarily mean good music. This is why prog metal is the worst metal subgenre ever. Bands play random hard-to-play stuff that feels completely disjointed and prog fans are like, "Holy fuck, this concept album is awesome!" But in reality, it's just a dissassembled shitty mess.

I don't think that applies to this album though. It's certainly got a great flow to it and most of the elements don't feel out of place at all.

1s are a little much but most of the time I’m not a huge fan of bands like DT who just struts their stuff for the sake of it, as if to say “look how good my solo is! Look at it!” Not always tons of substance in that. I understand loving it though, opinions.

I agree with Firedust, but technical profiency combined with the necessary restraint & cohesion is always a winning formula, prog doesn’t have to be a mindless indulgent wankfest.

The Spectral Burrows isn't that good imo, good on early listens but it isn't as good as Salt Thrower, War Squids, Putrid Fairytale, Slave Goo World
