Well I don't listen to Blur so there's that.

'Exhibit A: 'Welcome to the World of Plastic Beach' drum pattern.
Exhibit B: Fucking 'Momentz'.'
maybe that's a huge part of the problem with this album
Damon seems to have some sort of lack of faith in parts of his own creative process and it's impossible to tell why

There's a lot of production elements that feel really undercooked yeah.

If there's something Damon doesn't lack is self confidence lol
production on the new album is more intricate than it seems at first glance, must of y'all should pay more attention.
the 'plastic on the ceiling' part is stupid, tho, I'll agree on that.
Also, Carnivale and Let Me Out are my least fav on this and WGTP has grown on me, I'll tolerate it way more than those other 2. The lyrics on LMO are so awful.

Pusha has some of the best lyrics on this album but w/e

Pusha's 'lyrics' are trash and sound like they were written by a 10 year-old

The more I listen to this the more I realize how fantastic Plastic Beach is.

^Agreed. Plastic Beach is brilliant.
If only Doncamatic was included it would be hands down my favorite Gorillaz record.

it"s my fav by far. they're all great but demon days is easily third tier on my ranking for their discog; its on par with this for me. there's excellent songs there but awkward flow and some real duds in the second half.
plastic beach is perfect throughout.
|
| |
Exactly. I love the feel both Plastic Beach and the debut give me, and Demon Days isn't as consistent as those (IMO 2).

go back and forth from this and plastic beach, plastic beach sounds much more clear and structured production-wise to me
same thing with Demon Days, but that album wasn't quite as maximalist

DD is overrated yea... on par with this. Debut an PB are both far superior albums

Change DD for plastic beach, that's better.
I fucking hate plastic beach, I almost started a war in that thread.

The minute the first song starts and snoop dogg starts to sing, it makes me
FUCKING MAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

^ but that instrumental is just so lush. Gorillaz have always had some pretty terrible features to go along with their brilliant ones. Even back to the Phi Life Cypher original version of Clint Eastwood.
The more I listen to this the more I realize how fantastic Plastic Beach is.
Definitely

Man I wish quoting didn't ruin formatting.
I also wish paragraph breaks didn't automatically double so I didn't have to go back and edit the double spacing out. Whatevs

im personally attached to DD since it was the first cd i ever bought with my own money but I agree that it's objectively at about the same level as this

Man mine was like The Lighthouse Family or something.
I would argue that Danger Mouse's production puts DD above this by default. This is by far the worst produced of the 4 albums, which really surprised me.

lol rodrigo you're so fucking cringe sometimes
Whatever
plastic beach is by far their best album. the guest features are pretty tasteful and snoops presence in that track is adequate and not even in the forefront of the mix.
