I haven't heard this album. I'd heard it was really bad, so I decided to check out the review.
From what I hear it would probably sound alot better live. Because it wouldn't be the 1st or 2nd time they'd played it.
Apparently the producer wanted it to sound like a band playing together in a garage for the first time or something. So, let's think....
A band gets together in a garage for the 1st time; they start playing some songs. Most of which they, or no other band, have played before. They record these songs. Release it internationally. And expect it to be well recieved by critics and to sell just as well.
Would you expect that to happen? FCUK NO!
Now, imagine Metallica did they same. They would expect to sell alot because they're Metallica, but for it to be well recieved by critics is a bit of a stretch.
I repeat, I have not heard this album. I'm just pretty much saying what the producer did and wanted to happen. It sounds like a pretty funky idea, but please, why on Earth would you do it with a band that has been labelled pretty much every metalhead as 'sell-outs' and that most metalheads gave up on long ago? Maybe he thought that they had nothing to loose?
Who knows, but I'm not planing on listening to this anytime soon, so I doubt I'll ever be able to rate this.

Fair review.But in my opinion St Anger is better than Load and ReLoad.They went so many years not releasing the same album twice before then,and I hope they keep the resumption of this tradition alive again for any more albums to come.

Also I notice that roughly half the people who said this is crap have commented about 3 times altogether on average.$20 says we never hear from any of them again.I'm fairly new to this site myself but it really bums me out that people seem to make accounts on this just to give albums either 5's or 1's,regardless of how bad or good they are.This Message Edited On 10.31.08

Nothing that they've released in the past 15 years could hardly be called classic,but this is far from awful.I agree about the fanboys though.
