I remember when this band was actually good, and not pity good.
Good times.

This is perfect for a quarentine jam.

this album is so liberated and free with the guys wilding out but there's a streak of melancholy running through that gives me some weird offhand anxiety

Possibly the best wandering and overlong album of all time. Never wears out its welcome.

Agreed on the first point, can’t agree on the second even if it’s mostly solid overall. Album would have only benefited from some trimming.

I find it to be perfect, but can definitely understand someone thinking otherwise.

Yeah you do, not sure how much it’ll be up your prog alley, a lot of it’s instrumentally rudimentary but the songwriting on the first 3 records (+ Building Nothing) is to die for

That's up my alley tbh. Songwriting, melodies, layers, etc

Top 5 MM. so good.
Goddamn, this and Lonesome Crowded West are arguably the two best road trip/long drive albums of all time.

Novacain Stain, man. Never gets mentioned but it's top 3 on here for me. Hits like a truck.

I've really started to appreciate just how cohesive and well-paced this one is lately, still doesn't have the every-track-is-a-standout factor that LCW or M&A do but it’s just so damn consistent and flows so well.
|
| |
I gotta buy this on CD sometime. I've never been able to get through it all the way through, need to spend some time with it in my car stereo
