Ditto Drummerboy. This is even further from Language than I thought it would be, but I love it. It's something entirely new.

So excited for the new record... Gonna wait for a 320 leak though, not gonna ruin my first experience with shitty quality

128 sounds fine on my end, haven't ran it through my monitors but for earbuds it's hard to notice that big of a difference. Cymbals and bass are usually are a dead giveaway, I think it just shows how well produced the album is. 320 will be godly though.

So glad they went in a more melodic direction, I can remember listening to Exoplanet and thinking that if they made an album of melodic stuff it'd be the fucking bomb and they actually did. Love how The Center is actually in the center of the album.

It'd odd how good this sounds in 128 though. Listened to the same songs on my commute in. Not even that much clipping. Definitely losing a lot of dynamics and detail though, but the production is so lush that you get a lot at a low bitrate. Still saving my unlistened songs for 320.

So the Benchmark store says the pre-order digital downloads are available today! I still can't access mine though, just comes with a JPG in a .zip saying "Available 09/12/17". I'll keep obsessively checking.

Ok ok fine.

I listen to whatever quality I download in. So of course, that's gonna be 320 99% of the time.

Does FLAC really let you feel that?? I've never heard FLAC before.

FLAC sounds better but not for the hard drive space you give up. only a select few albums get the FLAC treatment for me personally.

kidding dude. flac is cool if you have the HD space and audio equipment and also sensitive ears. otherwise 320 does the job just fine

honestly, 128 is generally fine too, mostly depending on the rip quality, but 320 is a more than acceptable middle ground

Clairvoyant, Relapse, and Monochrome (Pensive) really stood out to me as highlights on first listen.

How many times is the word "clairvoyant" mentioned in the entire album is the question

At least a few haha

Relistened to this afterwards and it's definitely their best. I love the passion in the vocals, they really create an impactful atmosphere with the spacey keys and guitars. I had almost forgotten how much I loved Language I, Thrive, Ebb & Flow, and The Parable.

We're eeengineeeerrreeed tooo thriiiiive, we're eeeeeengineeeerred too thriiiiiive. And thriiive we wwill.
