this was my least favorite DG album for the longest time but now that all their albums have terribly grown off me this one now might be my favorite

lol
i recently listened to their whole discog again
their best material is mostly restricted to before 2014.
I also really enjoy that gabber megamix, but that's not an "album".

Yeah, with the exception of Steroids, everything after Government Plates feels like variations of their formula and refinement rather than the explosive experimentation on Ex-Military, Money Store, No Love, and Government Plates. That's not to say they didn't experiment or have new sounds, but none of the following albums felt nearly as boundary-pushing. That being said, I have adored every thing this band has put out. Government Plates has aged like a fine win

NotM is their most experimental, by far. It's probably their best, too.

Honestly forgot about NOTM, every time I think of Powers that B I always think of Jenny Death lol
But agree, that one is extremely experimental and boundary pushing. Everything starting with Jenny Death is what I meant

without a doubt. seems like the weirder mostly instrumental stuff is what usually divides people the most.
i'm not even big on their instrumental stuff like fashion week, but it works really well here for me. Plus it helps the one time i saw them live they played 'big house' and 'this is violence now' and they sounded so massive
