He's technically a good singer. But his melodies are so whiny.

Haha, i'm kind of an Aus prog fanatic.
Also, was reading an interview with Karnivool about this album recently and they said two interesting things -
Nachash was actually written during the Sound Awake era but they decided not to put it on Sound Awake because it didn't 'fit'.
Like with Nachash, there was another song written and recorded for Asymmetry called 'Listen' that they decided not to include. They've said they will eventually release it though.

"They better not take four more years to release another album"
They said they're trying to reduce the time to release albums but it ends up being every 4 years. If Ian Kenny wasn't in Birds of Tokyo it would take a lot shorter.

"Ah that explains why Nachash is actually good"
I'd say it's sort of in the middle in terms of quality. If i had to guess which song had been written during the Sound Awake era i would guess Aeons or Sky Machine.
"They better not take four more years to release another album"
Well, they said after Sound Awake was released that they didn't want to take as long with the next album but that didn't really happen haha. I think it's just mainly because of them touring so god damn much and of course Ian spends a lot of time with Birds of Tokyo.

This band seems pretty damn appropriate for Karnivool fans: http://thumpermonkey.bandcamp.com/
Pretty interesting alt-prog. Got some ATD-I and Asymmetry-esque stylings

I can safely say that I wouldn't be devastated if Ian abandoned Birds of Tokyo.

well March Fires was pretty fucking mediocre so yeah I wouldn't either. So that's two Kenny releases in one year that are horribly forgettable. He needs to just focus on one thing (Karnivool) and get it back together
