At least 5 of their albums obliterate this.

Imo both bands created a masterpiece in their respective styles. AoP has this album, CoF has Dusk...

when i first heard this i was like wow they dun shit the bed here. Then it grew and grew along with my member to become their best (Altho Earth I as a Womb is still my fav track) and i realize the bed was shat in 2011.

The difference is that the previous AoP albums are straight up atmospheric black metal (only with a slight industrial twang). Solid atmospheric black metal, but still, just atmospheric black metal.
This album is more like a wtf-experience, it has so many twists and turns you never know where you're gonna end up

yeah but somehow it doesn't feel TOO disjointed and manages to flow relatively well which is pretty remarkable.

Still if White tomb didn't have a gollum feat on track 3 that went on for way too long I'd probably prefer that one, I love the post-apocalyptic vibe on that.

I keep going back to this, but Burnt Year has become one of my favorite songs of all time from any genre. I've never heard anything quite so chilling. And that song is fucking all over the place.

Then you look at a song like "A Body Shrouded" and how fucking heavy that is. I think about being in a tiny dive bar and a band getting on stage and opening with that and me losing my shit like I'm 20 again.

Its a fucking masterpiece. I struggle to think of an album since that stands up to it.
