This is the album that got me into rock music, so it'll always be special to me, but I only listen to it in small doses now. Insomniac and Nimrod get jammed far more.

Hahaha
I got into music so much later than any of my friends, so I thought I was the one who was different. Heard this when I was a junior in HS and it slowly weened me off classic and progressive rock.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about - American Idiot is a milestone album, at least pop-culturally speaking.
When I joined this site in 2009 I was into Brand New, Thrice, Green Day, Sum 41, Linkin Park, and Shinedown. The first 2 are the only ones that really stuck as favorites, and then I matured a shit load between 2010 and 2011 when I started listening to indie and other more refined styles.

this one basically did it for me too
