Fortress owns this in pretty much ever musical aspect, including vocals. But just listened to both and i can't help but feel a lot more emotion was put into this album.
Fortress owns though, dont get me wrong, this just has a certain charm Fortress lacks.

I still need to hear this fully. I have no idea why I haven't.

Fortress has much better production and vocals, but the concept elevates this album to classic.
Plus that album feels a tad bit contrived compared to this.
Oh yeah, and nothing on Fortress quite matches the last two minutes of Turn Soonest to the Sea.

There hasn't been many things ever recorded that matches the last two minutes of that song.

Yeah dude, I have this in iTunes, yet I still haven't listened to it fully. Fortress is owning me right now.

like bodom said...there isnt many parts in fortress that matches the part when the voice of kezia steps in and says "walking one last mile" in suicide or the 3 minute mark in she who mars
or the horribly overlooked dual vocals at the end of divinity withinThis Message Edited On 08.05.08

Wow dude, i can understand Plateful not doing anything for you but tracks 7-9 are the best 3 songs on the album imo.

a sin i didnt care for
was a sing that paid my debts
a sin that fed my children
that burned my smiles and cigarettes
gets me everytime
and the guitar solo after that is nothing short of spectacular

yea this is so much more enjoyable than fortress, which in turn makes it so much better.
there are so many epic and memorable moments on here, and there really isnt a single weak track. i dont enjoy H's & K's nearly as much as anything else on here, but its still a bomb song.

np : turn soonest to the sea. seriously, SOO epic.

and rody's vocals are very good on here as well as on fortress. its kinda sad so many people are grilling them, they need to go listen to a calculated use of sound (which is still excellent)

I think Plateful of Our Dead sticks out like a sore thumb (in a bad way), but it's still pretty amazing.

The one thing I wish pth would do is make their breakdowns last longer. they don't use them very often, but when they do they are amazingly well done, examples being turn soonest to the sea and sequoia throne, but they last like 5 seconds.

They extend 'em live from time to time.

and i actually think that is the second best song on the album , right behin turn soonest. ******* epic riff a minute through and ******* epic riff before and during the stupid flower part.
