"Us Brits don't drink responsibly as a nation and the policing for it isn't too good either. You Germans are cultured in booze and whatnot and are kinda brought up with it, we are a nation of drunks unfortunately haha."
Eh, I'd be careful with that. That might be a nice one of the stoic, controlled German stereotype but it's not really accurate. We've also got our fair share of drunkards - especially really young and older ones. Look at Oktoberfest or the Weinfeste here in the region, shit does get out of control quite frequently.
We just don't really police for the substance because that's not the real issue here. I think a major reason is that our law is much younger, our law is based on law from the time of Bismarck. Anglosaxon law is based on 300 year or older outdated normative characteristics that apparently haven't been updated. There's also the thing that the whole Third Reich ordeal forced us to update and re-examine the bases of our law - making it even more recent.

Nah, I'm just bored a lot and since there's not much to do here I spend a lot of time working out and reading, listening to music and drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Damn, you sound like the German version of Dave Grohl.

lol, how's that? I didn't know Dave Grohl worked out a lot, drank copious amounts of coffee, cooks for food no reason when he's bored and reads a lot.

Well, I don't really a lot. Not anymore. Incidentally, my workout frequency has actually lowered my hunger. I actually don't wanna know how far I'm under my TDEE right now given that my diet consists mostly of toast with various things, fruit, chicken, some veggies, coffee and milk (products).
But yeah sounds like a good deal. I think I've heard he's pretty chill, too.

Going on my first run tonight, first time I've worked out in over 2 years hahaha.

Agreed. Good sandwiches and PB&Banana with some honey and cinnamon are my digs. My body also appreciates bread more than rice and noodles, so win-win.
Cheesus H. Chrust, what the hell do you use as "steamvalve" ? Working out/sports (in combination with coffee and music) keeps me sane and grounded, perfect thing to put a lot of energy into instead of being a cynical dick or throwing things at people.

@Pleb: enjoy that metallic taste in your mouth you get from intense exhaustion ^^

Dunno dude, just lost motivation to get fit a few years back. But now I can't wait to get out there and get fit haha, think a change in scene of music has helped me greatly tbh.

gotta agree with Wolfhorde, you need a "steamvalve" or you go crazy from idling too many mucho.

Well, as I said. It's not just about being fit or having a better physique, it pretty much keeps my inner dickhead in check.
Well, consistency is pretty much the most important aspect about it. Although once you've got a habit down it kind of snowballs. Just recently I did 7 days at 70% volume with at least 70% RPM/set and I actually felt pretty damn good.
Something you can put a lot of energy into, a "valve" - an "outlet" for any strong emotions or that feeling that you're gonna bounce off walls if you don't do something. For me it acts both as an "outlet" and a "counterweight". As I implied earlier, it has the advantage that you're less likely to be dicking around or do dumb shit because of drama/emotions in general.
|
| |
"steamvalve" as in "outlet" or "forum for venting" if my interpretation isn't too far off.
