can we all just agree that first-wave bm is impossible to define and agree upon and that 2nd-wave is better anyway lol

I'm not talking about Venom at all.

The main difference between early Sodom and what they went on to play a few years later is the factors I listed. The reasons for their earlier sound were largely circumstantial.

"sodom didn't start thrashing until obsessed"

That's their first full length and they have 14 now. Are we really arguing that Sodom are a black metal band because of a couple of demos or am I missing something here?

Sodom were extremely influential in the devolopment of black metal, I can agree with that (because it's indisputable).

The point i was making is does the exact classification matter all that much? Yeah i like sodom, bathory, sarcofago, hellhammer as well as darkthrone, burzum and immortal and a million others that could be classed as 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 484747th wave bm. What it boils down to is do you like listening to it? If someone likes something great, if they don't like it thats great too. We all like music but we all have differing tastes, personally i listen to whatever i like the sound of and couldnt give much of a shit about what genre classification it falls under

for me it's interesting to talk about genres and genre classifications but once it becomes an argument it's dumb
