Cornell and Staley had a more powerful range for sure, but in my opinion there's no way Cobain was a better vocalist than Vedder.

I feel like Vedder's voice was awesome on Ten and Vs. but it's been shaky or unconfident or something on everything since then. It's kind of hard to describe.

Vitalogy is all over the place tbh. Still a 3.5 in my opinion though.
@Daniel
Nah Cobain just had that rawness that I love.

Source, I feel as if Pearl Jam's discography documents Vedder's voice over the years quite well. Sure, the loud and raw energy he had on Ten, Vs. and Vitalogy aren't as poignant anymore, but the unparalleled emotion he can carry in his delivery is still an amazing presence. I guess you couldn't expect him to keep going that strong, recording and touring for 25 years nonstop. I think he's learned to accept his position rather than fight it, and adapted quite well to his vocal ability. In my opinion, the results are impressive as they've always been.
Vitalogy's a hard grower, no doubt. First time I heard it, I was very disappointed, since I had loved the other two so much. I felt it was artsy and experimental and it didn't have a reason to be. But then, nearly a year after, I heard it again out of nowhere and felt completely different. There's songs there that are sky high in the Pearl Jam canon, Tremor Christ, Nothingman and Corduroy are some of my favorites. Now I feel the interlude tracks help digest and ease out the listening experience, rather than get in the way.

Were you guys alive when all the Seattle bands got big?
^ I was in 9th grade when this dropped. 7th for Ten, Dirt, Nevermind, and Badmotorfinger. It was a fucking awesome time.

Damn man, yeah I guess it must've been awesome.
But now is okay as well, having Internet it's much easier to get to know all about the grunge scene and have access to all that quality, superb stuff.

Have been on a Soundgarden binge lately, finally bumped Superunknown to a 5. It just doesn't let up from start to finish, fantastic stuff.

"Has a few songs I don't love, but still excellent."
Personally I love every single track, a couple here grew on me a lot over time. I always loved Half though, never got the hate for it ahah.
It's hard to pick only one favorite here, especially since I love every song, but Like Suicide is up there for sure. There's an acoustic version of it that appeared on a Soundgarden EP once that's just as amazing as the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzgFD0sODts
