I prefer jouhou to this but if i had to describe dxax itd be anime grind. But seriously elitism in any genre is just silly, it's okay to just not like a band.

I'd say mathgrind or experimental grind, disregarding the anime influenced concepts. This album is more sophisticated in terms of writing than a LOT of grind records.

Honestly would anyone even know the lyrics were about anime sometimes if they didn’t say so
Calling them”anime grind” is a bit of a disservice

No, so I think the term is slick wrong lol

thats like calling Amon Amarth Viking metal because they use Viking themes in their image and lyrics.
|

It’s not even that obvious with Discordance Axis tho
It’s not like there’s an anime chick getting disemboweled on the cover with hentai sound clips playing during songs
Which is apparently a thing

Exactly. The lyrics are just like, heady and nihilistic abstractions that leave some room for interpretation. Nobody's actually talking about EVAs or something.

idk listenin to discordance or even gridlink just makes me think of mechs fighting, and nah i wouldnt describe jig ai as anime goregrind.

This is music to listen to when angry. Great stuff

BAT, only cause you heard the inspiration behind it. lol I dunno, the shit makes me think of waves of anger and depression, washing over humanity as we all flail into nothing.

I read through all of them shits. They're actually really top notch, for any music, let alone grindcore. Almost as good as Pig Destroyer's best but not quite to THAT pedigree.

i've read them many times but if i tried to type the lyrics out to a leaden stride to nowhere without listening to it i'd be shit out of luck, not a complaint juust the lyrics aren't why i defined them as anime grind. [and yeah i admittingly have seen jon chang explain his work]. also never got around to listening to phantom limb, i'm behind af.

Phantom Limb is good, but it’s the first step PD took towards their more death/grind and groove-oriented sound so keep that in mind. It still rips

Narcosis are the most slept on grind act ever. Earache put their Discog out. They did splits with melt banana, brutal truth, total fkn distruction and even so... but nothing touches DA for me when it comes to grind

jester, I thought PD always had a deathgrind, groove oriented sound. Much more willing to engage with slow parts than your average grind act of the time and I always heard a ton of death metal in Scott Hull's riffs. But yeah, Phantom Limb is marks them getting slower on average.
deezer, I agree that DA are probably the best grind band. I haven't checked out Narcosis yet, so I'm about to do that.

So I was expecting something a little different here but alas it is still recognisable as grind, I can tell the tracks apart so I guess it’s got that going for it.
