yet another reason to avoid streaming and just hoard flac’s. I’m having the same problem with death right now. Can only access the god awful remasters on Spotify.

thankfully i have all these original rips on the desktop, just not way to play them mobile.

I am commenting towards pointing out that I have this on CD, which makes me a superior music enjoyer.

What’s their database like, decent? I’m finding myself frustrated with how many things aren’t on Spotify lately (especially older stuff)

as far as I can tell, it's pretty much the same as spotify. when you sign up for digital distro and check all the boxes, both are there...but that's just for new releases. any specific ones?

Neurosis - TSIB, Joanna Newsom, SPK, Susumu Hirasawa, Joni Mitchell, His Hero Is Gone, Skee Mask, Pram - Helium, Kayo Dot - Choirs, The Necks, Ad Nauseam, Naked City etc.

Just examples. I’m not expecting you to look for them. I’m guessing this is researchable and I’ll have a peek

Either way the increase in streaming quality is attractive

pretty sure weakling's Dead As Dreams is the only album not on Tidal that I'm sad about, now that Inanna's discog is there

TSIB disappeared for a while, maybe it's back? Dunno, I've been using other sources (I also have it on CD, but I'm lazy)

some SPK is on Spotify but not Leichenschrei. Helium is the only Pram that's not on Spotify. Choirs comes and goes too but other Kayo remains

interesting to find out about the rest if those are comprehensive discogs though. None of Newsom's stuff has ever been on Spotify as far as I know and Skee Mask's discog is essentially absent for all intents and purposes

thanks for checking

np. seems like it's mostly artist's choice or label legal stuff, but probably consistent across platforms. in which case the Tidal perks are CD-quality audio and that artists get paid more (up to 10% of total subscription fees). as an artist, I like that.

Love this album.

Also, the more I see all this stuff about streaming, the more I'm glad I never switched to it lol.

I have tons of rips on desktop and an external drive, copy shit to my phone, and I listen to it with Pulsar. Plays my flacs just fine, and space hasn't been an issue so far (although I don't really do many other things on my phone that require much storage space).

Damn yeah that sucks. I'd be pissed if that happened. At least I could rip it all again since I have CD's, but that would take forever and somehow I don't think I'd actually be up for that

I always have backups though, just because I've had too many random instances of having to either reformat my hard drive, or something else stupid happening. Of course, nothing has happened since I started backing up though. 100% if something happened to my external, I'd end up needing it in a week lmao
