you don't like the female vocals on Coil yet you still call it a gimmick
what the ****s your point none of your posts make sense
Me not liking the vocals and them being a gimmick are two different things...Opeth was just throwing a curveball at it's listener with them, but made it the opening track so it would hit right away and show the listener the "new and fresh-sounding opeth willing to be influenced instead of just influence", but a short track so it didn't linger if the gimmick didn't work. It was a shocking moment to usher in an album but still a gimmick.
I don't like female vocals most of the time and though she's a good singer it's still both a gimmick and doesn't appeal to me.

Funny how that's the best song on the album. That's also where the innovation ends.

A pretty solid 4 here from me. Very good but the two new members since Ghost Reveries was recorded don't really bring anything new to the band's sound. Opeth really are at status quo atm, making pretty good music but not being as innovative as they can be.

yeah or maybe they just wrote the song, and said "hey, i think some female vocals here would sound kinda awesome." you think you know exactly what opeth are thinking, but it's only speculation, so you can't fault them for something you have no idea about, unless you just don't like the vocals, then it's just your opinionThis Message Edited On 08.14.08

entire album drags on a little long. Actually, A LOT long. Hessian Peel is the only track i can listen to on this anymore. Lotus Eater should have never made the cut, ever. Not even as a B-side. fuck.
