i mean i've listened to this album over 10 times. i'll keep listening though just because i'm actually starting to see this as more than "good instrumentation with excellent death metal vocals."

This album is all killer, no filler. And, that 'Lamentations' concert DVD which features the material from this album, along with Damnation/Deliverance is one of the top ten concert videos I've ever seen. Absolutely loving that thing. Here's a heads up. If you know what I'm talking about and you're diggin' hard on this DVD, then please, also look into Porcupine Tree's 'Arriving Somewhere' DVD. You won't be disappointed.

Oh, it's the biz-bomb, yo. Excellent, intimate setting and atmosphere. The show is split right down the middle. The first hour is songs from Damnation. Breathtaking acoustic performances, with some band accompaniment. The only thing that could have made it better is if Steve Wilson was up on stage playing mellotron. The second hour of the show is all heavy, featuring the songs from Blackwater Park and Deliverance. Really good. And, the Porcupine Tree DVD is just as riveting the Opeth. I thought it was going to be too mellow to be interesting. But, it's not mellow at all. The PT probably has better visuals. It looks like more money was sunk into it.
