All you said was this band was "barely black metal." First of all, who really cares??? Secondly, I don't see that as a valid reason to not like them. Why not like it or hate it for what it is and not for what it's not?

Listened to this for the first time a couple days ago. Wasn't keen to begin with but it grew on me. Now I'm really, really liking it. Classic case of having to give an album a proper listen! Reminded me of when I wasn't into Opeth.
Anyway, I'll be sticking with this album for a while but what album by Agalloch should I check out after?

The mantle is my second fave for sure. Although you could go chronologically

I'd say Pale Folklore then The Mantle. But who knows you may like Marrow a lot too since it's their most accessible album in my opinion.

It completely depends on the listener and what he or she prefers, Marrow would appeal most to people who lean toward black metal, this and Serpent are doomier and more polished. Their first two are best regardless, and new listeners should start there.
