Deliverance is one of Opeth's weakest efforts but it's still much better than Heritage and slightly better than Orchid in my opinion. The title track and Master's Apprentice are two of the Opeth's best.

It just seems so drawn out and lacks any of the sort of moments that make Opeth interesting to me. I don't think they were very good at playing more-or-less straight up death metal which makes the majority of that album very unappealing to me.
I do quite like A Fair Judgement though.

I agree with JT on Grand Conjuration by the way. There are prolly three songs on Watershed better than it and GC in general is the weakest song on here in my opinion. It still kicks ass though.

Orchid destroys Deliverance and leaves no survivors.

Deliverance is bland. Even the best song on that (master's apprentices) is pretty boring until the half way point

Masters Apprentice's beginning is probably the worst part of the album but the rest of it is amazing

lol damn. Worse than Wreath?

I don't like the production on Deliverance. It's not heavy or abrasive or evil enough for the riffs,
imo. If they remaster it like they did BWP I'm sure I'd like that version much more, though. Any
idea if they're going to do that?
Oh, and I don't like Mike's growls on that album. Probably his worst?

They're both the low points on the album, but Wreath brings out those awesome dissonant guitar leads pretty quickly so it gets some brownie points for that

Steven Wilson does atmosphere and that production style is extremely lacking in Deliverance

I could easily see how Deliverance would turn some people off. With regards to experimentation there really is none and the song structures are all kinda similar. Having said that, I still think the album rules due to an abundance of memorable riffs.

Ok good, so it wasn't just my ears that were wonky, then. I'm a fan of A Fair Judgment.

Dude, that part is Master's where it halts and that massive riff comes in and then Mikael just goes 'UHHHHHHH!'. Man, that part is too fucking good.

Soft section of Deliverance is amazing. Not to mention that solo after it where all the instruments stop playing for a sec and you hear that guitar wail you know the part hot DAMN

And the outro of course. Pain I see in others doesn't get enough love, the beginning is sick

Master Apprentice and Deliverance's clean sections are both godly. Especially the former.
