Yeah, Newsted is definitely a better comparison than mine. I'm just happy that Portnoy and Newsted were finally able to patch things up with their respective bands over time... something tells me that's not gonna happen with Vega though

Deftones is my favorite band, but based on Sergio's account this is a really bad look for them. Sure, they don't owe Sergio anything, but to devote 14 years of your life to an act and not be recognized as an official member and to hear you've been kicked out by a management lawyer is pretty damn cold.

He definitely influenced the band to write more progressive music, for better or worse, depending on what style of Deftones you prefer. Nonetheless, I'll always treasure his basslines in songs like "Swerve City", "Error", and "Headless" to name a few.

Chi - 1 5 (ATF), 3 4s (S/t, SNW, WP) n a 3 (Adrenaline)

Sergio deserved WAY better

At least Vega went out on a high note with this album, easily his best work with Deftones imo. Shame the rest of the band didn't seem to appreciate it.
