This is fucking beautiful, can't believe I didn't like it the first few times I heard it. Definitley an album that gets better each time you hear it. I guess the rule is if it's an amazing album you won't know it when you hear it the first time.

This is one of only a select few albums that absolutely floored me on the first listen. Instantaneous mind melter.

Yeah, they're few and far between zak - this album in '97, following The Bends, it was a real 'wtf this is incredible' moment listening to this the first time

Defo doof dude. I don't think anything has had the same effect in fairness. Popped into the record shop on the way to college, bought it on tape and then it was goosebumps on the top deck of the bus all the way to college.

I wasn't immediately taken with The Bends though it has to be said.

Album was a grower for me, now it's one of my favourites.

I didn't like Radiohead at first, didn't get into 'Creep' and had them written off until I heard my brother playing Street Spirit again and again through the walls. Then I listened to My Iron Lung and thought 'actually, this lot have something'.

The Bends wasn't an instant classic but by the time I'd listened to Ok Computer I was then sold on the idea they were the best band out there and maybe The Bends benefits from a little reflected glory...but half the songs on there are certified classics and the rest is all good and brings the nostlagia

For me The bends was very much guitar band trying to do big things, might as well have been U2.
