No, you don't understand what i'm saying. I don't care about the averages when i rate (and i think it shows, i have some "cult" albums as 2 or 2.5). I'm saying having listened and knowing a genre better, you can come to the realization that an album you disliked or liked is actually much better/worse than you thought (as your appreciation of said genre evolves)...which then brings your own rating up/down.
@PunchforPunch: Because she's a wacko and i hate her "songs" which were pretty much forced on children in my country. Go listen to it, you'll understand. It's all crap even 4 year olds would get fed up with. It's the musical equivalent of Teletubbies.
It's one of the 2 1.0s i gave to genres i don't listen to...the other being Lulu (and that doesn't need an explanation).

I agree that ratings can be adjusted over time to reflect ones ever-changing perception of music, or a particular genre/style. At the end of the day they're used solely as a barometer for enjoyment, if listening to artists B, C and D ultimately changed your perception of artist A (perhaps subconsciously to begin with), then A may not be as enjoyable upon revisiting.
I also don't look at the Sput average when rating, the ratings are inflated here and I prefer to go by the Sput descriptors/my own personal system.

Depends on the band. When you have bands pushing out 20 albums, there's bound to be several 5 if you like the band (like the 5.0s i gave to Maiden albums). For most bands, though, it would make sense, yeah.
