surprised this avg is almost tied with Close to a World Below. I mean it's good, but nowhere near as good as that.

Seeing this is almost tied with CtaWB as greatest Immolation I don't find it hard to see where the almost likewise averages come from

This is better than CTaWB. They're both classics though.

They’re about equal. Both classic and yeah idk why it’s a surprise that the averages are so close.

yeah that's my main problem, I can't even listen to this in the car. The guitars are so loud yet muffled it sounds like they're throwing up all over themselves. The instrumentation isn't nearly as interesting here. CtaWB just feels a lot more focused and cohesive I guess. It really does feel like a slow decent into hell or some shit

Majesty & Decay on the other hand sounds immense, they really nailed the production on that one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one underwhelmed by this album. I guess that different aesthetic appeals to some more. I enjoy their debut far more than this one.

Haven't gotten to Majesty & Decay yet, but excited to. The production gets better with each release from what I've heard so far.

"The guitars are so loud yet muffled it sounds like they're throwing up all over themselves. "
Are you sure you don't just have a bad rip or something? I mean I've jammed out to this album for years and I've never had any issues close to that. Like I said, it's not great production, it could definitely be better, but it's not bad. Guitars are definitely clear so yeah idk. If you have the actual CD I don't know what to tell you, but if it's a download then get a different one cuz it shouldn't sound anywhere near as bad as what you describe.
As far as which is better musically, well, to each their own. How one can listen to a masterpiece like Christ's Cage and not wanna insta 5 this is beyond me though. Close is a bit more "straightforward" than this is (not saying that as a negative) so perhaps this album is harder to digest for some people in comparison.

I listened to it straight off Spotify, so definitely not a problem there. It’s especially noticeable if you listen to a song from this and then a song from CtaWB
