"Personally am believing two things:
1) Donda 2 will come out as scheduled
2) It’s gonna suck ass"
Feel like there's a chance it really does get delayed, but its definitely gonna be trash. Bro working on the songs with Marilyn Manson, its over this nigga is washed beyond the point of return.

since I naively commented on this thread like 40 pages ago and am now stuck with seeing it in my discussions constantly, might aswell go ahead and ask a couple of, possibly stupid, questions:
1. for the people who unironically 4+ any Kanye album, do you actually enjoy the music and/or lyrics or is it like a status thing like 'everyone hates kanye but he's a genius really, lemme 5 this'. the dude is clearly off his rocker for years already and this sounds like absolute garbage for the most part (with some redeeming qualities I suppose)
2. are fans really into the whole religion thing he has going on? or rather are most fans of his on this site catholic/christian?

I just thought this was super consistent, every song good, nice n floaty and very pleasant night-sky vibes in the production (the putatively "unfinished" nature of which doesn't bother me: thank god "Jail" doesn't have drums, imho [that song still rocks :smilingdevilemoji:])
and honestly more than anything just SO much better than JiK which I thought signalled his demise (not cuz of religious material--it was just bad)

Yeah I'm fine with religious lyrics and some gospel-y elements (low threshold tho lol), but that album was just so amateurish. This album rly cements his legacy as one of the greatest imo. And the unfinished nature is fine too - Pablo was pretty similar and that album slaps. Jail is up there with his best, along with Hurricane and Jesus Lord

Believe what I say too. That background humming reminds me so much of The Avalanches

octa, my phrasing was admittedly poor, and it shouldn't have come off as a central reason not to listen to kanye, or a reason at all in fact. Also, I'm not trying to tell anyone what to listen to and i def don't think everyone should or does have the taste as me. I was thinking about that Taylor Swift moment (among other things) when writing that. I'm not really sure even how crazy he is vs how much of an asshole he is (I really don't have the knowledge about his problems to comment either way). But all of that being beside the point, I find it hard to understand what people find in his music other than the religious stuff (which also seems very cheap, at least the song titles and album names do)

"1. for the people who unironically 4+ any Kanye album, do you actually enjoy the music and/or lyrics or is it like a status thing like 'everyone hates kanye but he's a genius really, lemme 5 this'."
Yes I enjoy his music. His first 5 albums all range from solid to amazing, and the production was always on point along with his rapping which wasn't always the best but was still lyrically clever and very enjoyable. After Yeezus tho the quality of the music took a huge dip, the albums got messier and the lyrics got genuinely awful, along with the production quality making a huge decline.
His collab album with Kid Cudi was an anomaly tho. Its the best thing he's been a part of in years and I truly believe that it wouldn't have been possible for him to make something so good again without Cudi. They bring out the best in each other.
"2. are fans really into the whole religion thing he has going on? or rather are most fans of his on this site catholic/christian?"
Eh the religion thing he's got going on with this and JIK doesn't really bother me. In fact the 2 most gospel-oriented songs on this and JIK (24 and Every Hour) are the best songs on the albums that they're on. And I feel like if you're a Ye fan you have to acknowledge the fact that Jesus Walks is one of his best songs ever regardless if you're actually religious or not.

@stormchaser bro he makes good beats. also god is he bestie. thats all there is to it. just chuck on so appalled, all of the lights, gorgeous, we major, flashing lights or pretty much any kanye song to remind thyself of this truth and to remedy thyself from thy blasphemous sins. for thy hath foisted thy unclean claims falsely over this convocation, HERETIC

i do have to acknowledge that, while not my cup of tea, MBDTF and some of the earlier stuff does sound like music

Honestly mbdtf did not age well imo. It sounds like a million bucks and I get why people love it, but the stuff he did on Pablo was way more interesting imo

What about MBDTF isn't aging well for you guys?
"but the stuff he did on Pablo was way more interesting imo"
That album had a few really excellent songs but its such an inconsistent mess to me. And Ye's verses on FSMH and Wolves are so bad they ruin the vibes for what could've been perfect songs.
