but NFR showed an artist finally (nearly) perfecting a sound they had been creating for around a decade though. Almost everyone likes it more than her previous albums but it's still a Lana album through and through. Whereas this album feels like it lacks an identity, it's more of an amalgamation of trends in modern pop and indie music. that doesn't necessarily make this worse obviously but NFR feels like more of an accomplishment to me for those reasons

Pretty clearly her best and a step up from the previous two, which were borderline unlistenable for me. Exile, Seven, and Epiphany are my top 3.

definitely her best. Still feels polished to the point of feeling like karaoke rather than anything truly indie, tho.

I swear this woman wakes up every morning super pissed off about Scooter Braun owning the rights to her OG masters. It took Prince like 30 years to get his back. I think she should chill. It's not a cool look hissyfitting after she refused to sign a non-disclosure about her dealings with Scooter.

eh, I always side with the musicians in these kind of disputes, even zillionaire superstars. It’s probably her own fault tho.

I'm not about to side with a record executive named Scooter

Umm.. it's 100 percent her own fault. When she was 14 neither Taylor or the label KNEW Taylor would be this profitable. The label took 100% of the risk, invested heavily and it paid off. She didn't have to sign away the masters, she just wanted to be FaMoUs. It all worked out as planned, now her inflated EGO wants more than was bargained for

I'm not siding with either. Scooter's a jerk but fighting him is portraying Taylor as a spoiled brat

She plans to re record all her old tunes to diminish the value of the OG masters... I mean... What an unnecessarily douchey move

This will end up diminishing the value of the tunes full stop and I'm all for it

Part of me thinks it could increase the value of the OG recordings, and that this whole shebang is a farce for publicity
