"the NIN comment I made was more to compare how a rock/metal band that had used ambience before decided to do an ambient/soundscapes record"

Mine was a joke about the ever debated deftones resemblance on this. I don t have a clue yet about what the album sounds like.

I can’t stand the constant high pitched chords they constantly rip throughout this with a chugging backing riff. It’s almost like every metal core band since 2017 tries to pull this shit off. Guess bands think it’s “chaotic”?

I dunno.

the chugga chugga *wee wee* metalcore style goes back pretty far tbh. Botch did it a lot. But it sort of disappears during the 2000s then has come back heavily into style in the last 6-7 years.

but yeah its weak af most of the time

Fuck, this just gets better with time.

Still a bit messy but I think they could be on the verge of a classic, ignoring the recent release

I really wish the recent release wasn’t under the Loathe name because it’s clearly not the full band it’s just a little ambient companion piece with similar vibes as this album

A whole album of better constructed songs with the quality of the pieces here would be incredible though. I get people saying it’s a bit of a mishmash of styles but IMO they’re so good at the things they do I can overlook it

Yah the songs individually are great but the flow is pretty jarring. Gotten used to it but it's what's stopping it getting elevated to 4.5 tier stuff.

But I think just like Rolo Tomassi, all the pieces were in place and something incredible was imminent, as was the case with Time Will Die

I'm getting more impressed with their clean vocal production too. It's feels like bathing in euphoria and catharsis in a way that hits better than Deftones
