I don't dislike Stairway, but for the amount of time it builds up the peak isn't much of a payoff :P

I like the bustle hedgrow section a lot

well, it is overplayed and that makes it lose some of its value, but here we're talking about great lyricism and superb instrumentation. Song is 5/5 and knows it.

Stairway, as overplayed as it is, is a masterpiece. But I can understand that it might have tired some listeners. The Battle of Evermore is also one of my favorites from this album. So atmospheric and magical. Also love the production on here.

I must be the only one here whose second most overplayed song (first being Stairway) from this album is "When The Levee Breaks". Incredible song, from the dynamic beginning, right to the very end, this song is a masterpiece. The instrumentation, the pace, Plant's vocals, everything is perfect.

And regarding their signature song, i've said it several times before: Kashmir>>>Stairway

οχι, να τα λεμε και να τα γραφουμε :P

Kashmir is better than Stairway for sure

What's the qualification for signature song though? Like an epic that defines them? I'd go with In My Time of Dying or The Rain Song :P

"What's the qualification for signature song though? Like an epic that defines them? I'd go with In My Time of Dying or The Rain Song :P"

You're right man, many Led Zep songs have enough quality in them to be characterized as their Signature tune. However not every song is as popular or significant enough as "Stairway". I used the Wikipedia's definition to choose the song.

Wikipedia summary is quite on spot imo:

"A signature song is the one song (or, in some cases, one of a few songs) that a popular and well-established recording artist or band is most closely identified with or best known for, even if they have had success with a variety of other songs"

Therefore, based on the above assumption, I think "Stairway" is the best candidate.
