the overtly emotional vocal performance comes across as too contrived for me to enjoy this. Which is a shame because there are some killer choruses.

i understand people's gripes about the vocals. they work for me but i get it.

what i don't get is when people called "heaven's gate" a fall out boy song when this album came out. i like FOB but they are just nothing alike. not to mention pete wentz could never write lyrics like that in his wildest dreams. some of campbell's strongest writing.

"you were the false rain that falls from the window AC unit"

Heaven's Gate is my least favourite here, it's just a less good I Don't Like Who I Was Then. it feels like they've overdone the soft "I was/you were" bridge at this point

heavens gate’s the worst yea

i see the fob comparisons on this alb but idk if thats a bad thing since its mostly the choruses that remind me of them, and that’s easily the best part of (old) fall out boy

i guess it's lyrically similar but the mood is like totally different. this outro is so much more resigned and exhausted than 'i don't like who i was then' where he is basically screaming it. idk 'heaven's gate' has always hit me really hard and i would put it up there with some of his finest lyrical work like 'cigarettes & saints'

They leaned much more towards emo with this album compared to the more pop-punk of their previous album, and with that came the more overtly emo vocal performance. I can totally see someone not liking this album because of the voclas but still loving their previous one.

Is it me or is the mix on this album pretty bad? Can barely listen to it at points.
