Have you jammed Perdition City? It's sort of similar.

That album's amazing, you should give it another shot. Shadows of the Sun too, though it sounds nothing like this or PC.

PC is well loved around here. Fans of it should check out Coil and The Future Sound of London to hear some of what inspired Ulver.

They're both amazing albums but Shadows is a bit better and more consistent since PC gets a little fillery in the second half.

what does "fillery" mean

After "The Future Sound of Music," (which I just realized must be a tribute to the group The Future Sound of London) the rest of the album until "Nowhere/Catastrophe" is a little too aimless and thinner on ideas, though the jazzy sections of "Dead City Centres" after the dog whistles is excellent.

Yup, that's my biggest argument against Shadows being much better. It's perfect start to finish. PC has some great songs and an interesting cold city at night atmosphere, but kinda drags at parts for me.

Also obviously they are very different records, I just find myself gravitating to the warmth of Shadows.

ok so it just "fills up time"

I dont get that vibe from a lot of things but that's me

Filler isn't the right word but the second half is just less compelling and interesting overall than the first imo. Plenty don't feel that way, just some like me. Shadows is consistently amazing all the way through, and the atmosphere is a little more to my liking personally. It's 10/10 and PC is like 9.2/10

side B of perdition city is always a journey into the absurd for me, and fascinating; different strokes

Shadows bores me tbh even though the cover of Solitude is the best thing ever
