i still honestly can't believe that this band released their best album right after they released the most boring safe album ever recorded by humans
and it's their best album by a mile too

Yeah this is objectively their best even if I have such fond memories of CoE and their s/t

I wonder where they're gonna go from here. They've never done the same thing twice.
This album was pretty positively received but I'd imagine it's probably their least commercially successful post-WtF album by a wide margin.
Also as many have already said a million times, Shadows needs to chill and just record stuff he's actually capable of singing. Think he sounds terrible on here? Look up like any live performance of these songs.

they’re definitely gonna come back with something aimed at earning more $$

I'll always deeply respect how they actively wanted to release such a well mastered record even though I'm not a big fan of the final product production-wise (sounds unpleasantly dry to me in places).
Even HttK was quite well-sounding for modern metal, I really hope they keep releasing dynamic records in the future.
EDIT: just checked the loudness db for curiosity and it seems the recent new version of Diamonds in the Rough is a lot more dynamic than the original, like double! yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I don’t mind them tbh
I see why others hate him and he doesn’t sound as good as he did on Nightmare but it’s not as bad as CoE.

Haven't jammed their stuff in forever. Diggin' this.

I would’ve bet fall of this year but corona probably fucked all that up
This is the longest they’ve gone without putting out a record

I tend to ignore the existence of HttK so it doesn't feel like that long of a wait quite yet

That’s a wise decision and I think I will join you.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind another S/T Nightmare type album of A7X style pop-metal bangers. As consistent and proggy as this album is I pretty much never return to it... though I also didn’t “grow up” with this one either

Diamonds 2020 is remastered with decent dynamics (mostly DR10). Considering both HttK and especially The Stage have healthy mastering I'm cautiously optimistic for an upcoming record to sound good too.
Never thought A7X of all bands would be genuinely fighting against the loudness war but here we are. If an act as big as them can do it then nobody has an excuse

Love this album a lot, but with time I’ve come to feel that the guitar is a bit weak on this album. Not as much as Hail To The King, but I can’t shake how uninteresting it is
