Calling an album a 5 is basically admitting it’s perfect, which no brand new album is...

I love the bluesiness in the second half especially. This is maybe a tad more consistent than TDAG albeit with lesser highs.

Sometimes I wonder if I like this better than TDAG and then I pray for forgiveness for having such a thought

Nah but seriously there's a mysterious vibe here that just isn't replicated anywhere else

Yeah, the atmosphere they created here is incredibly consistent but also so different from anything else they’ve done. Part of its charm is how strong its own identity is, and how they committed to that sound for each track. Dark, mysterious, and intense.

I've been trying to find a unique genre-identifier for this album. Dark forest alt-grunge indie rock?

If we look at the trilogy of TDAG, D, and SF, it shares some parallels with another popular trilogy. A beloved classic beginning, a dark and violent middle act, and a big and fun conclusion.

That's right. Indiana Jones bitches.
