Re-listened to this recently and it's excellent. I hate their other material with a burning passion, but this condenses everything I like about tool and perfects it. Despite what many say, I actually like the interludes on here, they are very creative on this album.

"Useful Idiot" I actually find to be useful. "(-) Ions" I enjoy listening to a lot.

whether something is "filler" (kind of a meaningless term anyways) depends completely upon the intention of the artist which only matters if it derails the quality of the listening experience; if it sounds good than it really doesn't matter.

Well said, Filler can sometimes be truly useful. The Filler on Aenima is a bit weird though, i think the filler was a bit better on Lateralus.
