I disagree I think this is pretty much on par/better than public strain

cindy lee is honestly so underrated, and act of tenderness in particular is fkn amazing

it has the same kind of atmosphere as public strain (esp the slower songs), but they incorporate these weird ass elements of noise as well as 60s girl groups. ive heard it likened to the beach boys if they did massive amounts of heroin

ha, I think I know what you're talking about six. sometimes an album puts you off because of what you perceive to be, like, the band's Orientation Toward the World or something...VC down to the original name seem to have this very sort of negative apathetic thing going on which certainly seeped into Women but which was made more dynamic especially on the first album by countervailing influences, acoustic guitar, shouty choruses, whatever. which still comes down to formal choices/sound but the way it hits you can be more like this holistic sense of meeting someone you like or don't like

this may not be what you mean but I guess it's what I mean!

its a real downer of a listen (cindy lee is), but yeah stylistically and conceptually its incredible. plus it has the same anachronistic feeling of public strain, which is one of the big draws for me

A 2?

Let's get serious here. I think this is better than Public Strain.

for some reason public strain makes me think of the velvet underground in the 60s playing the kind of music they would inspire decades later

opening with "Can't You See" certainly brings the VU&Nico vibes (I mean other than the fact that VU&Nico itself opens with a sonic fakeout)
