Holy jesus that’s a horrifying rating
What don’t you like about it?
it's overblown to the point of feeling insincere in comparison to other anathema albums. there are some good tracks on it, my 2 is a bit harsh in retrospect but what frustrates me is how they conveyed so much with so little in past albums and by multiplying the orchestra and the in-your-face elements they lost the subtlety of their music and gaining absolutely no emotional poignancy (and in many tracks, lost it). it honestly felt like style over substance to me.
the next album, distant satellites, was a much better balance between the feelings conveyed in this album and the more subtle tones i think they convey better in albums like a natural disaster and we're here because we're here.

Gonna have to bump this up. This has grown on me an astounding amount lately. As someone who went through a break up lately, this has been hitting especially hard. Cheesy of course, but sometimes emotional cheese is what you need.

The Storm Before The Calm totally earns that “THIS IS FUCKING INSANE” lyric too. It truly is and the ascent to that line really gives that song it’s payoff.

It’s alright man had to be done. Just cause you love each other doesn’t mean that person is necessarily right for you. Still hurt though and returning to this thing was good medicine.
