I see the Dio years as just that, dio with the best backing band in history, completely bored by the albums, all the inventiveness is gone, it is just Dio music played by 3/4 of sabbath

considering it was 1980, that NWOBHM sound was pretty original for its time

I do not see them as such, think of Maiden, Saxon, Samson, when I hear Dio I think mid 70's, Rainbow shit

There should be an official release of Asbury Park 75, even if it is a bootleg is has an excellent sound quality and it is certainly Sabbath best live recording with Ozzy (and by far with the coolest set list)

my biggest complaint of sabbath is their lack of quality sounding live shit, everything sounds like it was under water they blame it on early recording equipment, but others have good sounding stuff from earlier

unaware of the 75 show

It's a good show indeed but Black Sabbath were never a great live band I think. They worked their magic on studio but I never heard the same atmosphere on a live release of theirs. I enjoyed their live material much more during the Dio-era though.

Nah. Those are my top 2 Sabbath though and SBS might just edge it as #1 but certainly not easily.

First three Sabbath are on another level for me, not that the next three aren't great.

Agreed to an extent. This is Ozzy's best performance imo.
