Someone please turn the lights back on

I've been wandering here for days, disconnected, and in search for new air to breathe in

Some think I can fix this

Some think I could change

But that's the problem

We never speak to Him

Though our closing walls have cages in them

And I can't quite remember

This was the first time I didn't say enough

This was the only time I kept it close enough

Brace yourself! Co'mon and Brace yourself!

They're not waking

They're not waking up

They're not waking

They're not waking

Oh, my God

Oh, my God

I hate the me that I've become, this needy useless forgetting one

Truthfully I can't be the me, the me that I've washed up to be

Don't stop breathing

the walls have just begun to spin

Just let the water calm you this time

It's all around you, just open your eyes and take a look

It will never kill you; not this time

Don't stop breathing

Just let the water calm you

Don't stop breathing

Not this time

It's all around you

It's all around you

We're surrounded for all I care

Brace yourself right now

lights out I'm not breathing

I can't keep swimming, can't keep my head up

Oooh oooh ooh

Spencer's fed up with cocaine addiction and feels like he needs to pray for help, that's SOOOO forceful of his religion on others!

Yeah, that was uncomfortable even for me. But even as so, the listener is the person who gets to decide if they want to be receptive to the music's message or simply just enjoy the music for what it is. Either way, the listener is presented with a choice and nothing is actually forced upon anybody. I can listen to a song that says "have lots of sex with animals" but if I'm not receptive to the message, it's not going to feel pressured upon me.

But the point is that in anything after Act Of Depression all Christian parts are in reference to either Dallas or Spencer's personal lives. It's not preachy to say, "I prayed to God," or, "God I hate myself."

Mentioning religion is not forcing religion on others.

Aha! Much better put, that's basically what I was trying to say with cheesecake and bestiality metaphors.

Yeah coke just makes me feel uncomfortable and unable to coherently express myself.

It's good, but I wonder why everyone's fanboying over them. It's metalcore done well; not wholly original, and the Christian influence is kind of annoying. Note that I'm not saying this album doesn't deserve its hype, I'm just curious as to how it's attained it.

I've never seen this much hype for an August Burns Red album and they do Metalcore so much better.

"I don't understand how people feel like bands with Christian faith are trying to shove their faith down the listeners' throats. Getting upset at a band with Christians in it for singing about Jesus is like getting upset at metal bands for using distortion or instrumental bands for not singing. They're not asking you to believe in God, they're just singing about it. If they were a band that worshiped cheesecake and you didn't like cheesecake, get over it. The Cheesecake Brothers like cheesecake and Underoath likes God. You can choose to "shove it down" your own throat, but that's the listeners prerogative, not the band's."

Agreed.

What's annoying is the fact that idiots like you pretend that someone merely mentioning their religion is some horribly annoying act.

1. You should've been here when Constellations came out.

2. Apples and oranges.

3. You said Underoath is unoriginal and preachy and then brought up one of the most generic bands possible, one that's way preachier than Underoath. Well done sir!

I know ABR is a Christian band, but they don't try to preach it.

Their lyrics are preachier than Underoaths.

They do preach it.

You're stupid.

Saying you believe in something should not be offensive.

Woah, why'd you have to become all hostile and shit? I merely mentioned my own experience; I felt like the band was overly preachy, my fucking opinion.

the last underoath show I went to they never said anything about god. js.

I haven't went to any Underoath concerts, so I wouldn't know anything about their stage performances. If you you don't think they're overly preachy, then cool, this album works for you. My only question in my original post was how they attained such hype.

Yo, I'm completely sick of people acting like openly expressing your religious views is preachy and forceful.

And it's hilarious that because ABR doesn't openly say God in their songs you somehow think their lyrics aren't preachy.

August Burns Red lyrics:

Allow what's done to preach new insight to your life.

Hindsight is perfect vision.

The past is easiest to see.

Clear a path.

Stand aside.

We're carrying the torch now.

There's no stopping us.

You think you're everything to everyone.

Go ahead.

Partake in it.

Justify it.

Become engulfed in it.

It will eat you alive.

This is not a one way road.

You're headed for the dead end.

You might think you're everything to everyone.

Well pardon me if I intrude.

You're not a perfect man in a perfect world.

Look at where your ignorance has brought you.

All this will be buried.

Like the fall of Rome, you will come crashing down.

The truth hurts, but denial's what will kill you.

All that you loved, all that you treasure, will pass with time.

Blinded by the inability to see beyond flesh and blood.

Shifting blame with a log in your eye.

Insisting that a string tied to your limbs is what's to blame.

Suck it up and bite the bullet.

Way preachier than any of the Underoath lyrics posted in here.
