It just seemed like a mess to me, really unorganized like no thought or cleverness went into the riffs, like they were just sloppy but being interpreted as "angry". I haven't given it a spin in probably over a year though, things might be different now, a lot of "relative" events have happened since then.

I thought the point of this album was to stare at a pic of your ex like a "little bitch" and punch your walls until mom got mad.

It was just noise the first few times I listened to it. Now I can hear every riff, every bass line, every drum beat, and every RAHRAHRAH and I must say that there was a lot of thought put into this. Amazing, amazing musicians.

Listen to metalcore in general. The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Cave In, and even other stuff like Unsane. It'll get you used to the noise.
