Not my personal favourite Deep Purple record, but you have to give it a "5 star classic" rating. It really is a true rock classic.

Highway Star is the peak for me, but it generally doesn't dip far below its quality

If I ever did a top 100 songs list or something highway star would be nestled snugly somewhere near the top

the fact that When a Blind Man Cries wasn't included in here even though it is better than any song in the album and it is probably Purple's most heartfelt song, makes me hate Blackmore sooooo much

When a Blind Man Cries is one of my favourite songs of all time, probably.

Blackmore has made some questionable decisions for sure even though for an almost 10-year period his instinct was almost flawless. When a Blind Man Cries is definitely one of his poor decisions and the same can be said for choosing the abysmal "A" 200 as a closer for Burn instead of You Keep on Moving.

I could be wrong but wasn't When a Blind Man Cries a single released prior to the album like Strange Kind of Woman, Black Night etc. and so wasn't part of the album for that reason which was somewhat common at the time?

I think it was released as a b-side indeed prior to the release of the album but it was recorded in the Machine Head sessions. Black Night for example was recorded after In Rock (I actually saw that in Wikipedia couldn't remember).

Yes, When a Blind Man Cries is from MH sessions

As far as I'm concerned, the other members wanted it in the album but Blackmore is Blackmore
