i'll never love this kind of music. sophisticated, but so devoid of life and energy. that's not what music is about for me, as much as i can appreciate it.

If anything, this album has more life and colour than most other music.

If it weren't for that cheesy part around the 5 minute mark in Can-Utility, this would probably be a 5 for me

I actually agree with Anthracks though not completely

I do believe too that this lacks some kind of "life", but on the other hand that's why I love Selling England and Lamb, because those have tons of it

Eh, Gabriel era Genesis albums are gushing of life imo, and it's hard for me to imagine how anyone would think that Supper's Ready "lacks life".

If anything I'd say this album has the most "life" in their whole discography.

You beat me at it Jamie. Watcher of the Skies, Get'em out by Friday, Can-Utility and Supper's Ready all move me big time.

And of all the songs you don't mention Time Table? :O

Time Table can easily stick in the head all day long too, yeah. But it's my least favorite on here. It doesn't say a lot since it's a perfect album. Song is only too simple and ballad-like compared to the rest.

I don't know, that guitar/piano part after the chorus is easily one of my favorite moments on here, even though the song obviously lacks the complexity of the other pieces on here. That isn't necessarily a bad thing though, and I think it adds a lot to the album with its more simplified structure. One of the greatest strengths of the record is its diversity, after all. Can-Utility is my least favorite, even though I too think that even the weakest song on here is quite a strong track anyway

I love when I've literally just listened to an old album again and I see folks talking about it on Sputnik!

Despite the popularity of prog at the time I would wager this album was still transcendental and revolutionary when it released.

Love this album but Lamb Lies Down is still my top Genesis
