It really is, all pretentiousness aside.

i listened to this yesterday and my opinion remains unchanged. its too long, boring, teribad production drums and vocals

only redeemable features are the first song and occasional parts of a few others

Terribly overrated album. Yes, its decent, but it just comes off like their trying too hard. It sounds they like they want to keep playing the style from the last decade that lost much of their fanbase, but it doesn't matter. Even if St. Ager sucked (and trust me, we all heard it from the "true" Metallica fans), they still have sold out concerts. The album felt like they realized "Shit, since the Black Album, we've been losing more fans! We should stop trying to be hard rock and make a return to form to help get them back!"



I think you gave it a decent score though, not too high. None of these songs will become classic. Its not just that because metal (not glam) isn't underground anymore. These songs wouldn't be big in the 80's.
