123 Thor. I really can't tell if you're fuckin around or being serious about female vocalists. Either way, the female vocals on Coil definetly enhanced the song. Slow your roll, but if you want female vocalist time that rules face check out Arkona. Russian folk metal, the lady sings, does all the growling, and writes all the fuckin music.

It actually doesn't feel like a song or an intro, not sure what to call it but is sexy for sure. Can we see some more duel vocal work with Natalie on the next Opeth album? Actually the r.b singer that sung on Ulvers cover of Prince would sound remarkable with Opeth.

I don't hate the song because of the female vocals, it works in the song but it's such a gimmick...the fact that you don't want to see natalie again in any opeth song ever again after you here coil because it only works once kinda points at it being more gimmick, and opeth not actually doing the same old thing again...

But why the first song? Or one that is so short? Could it be opeth's last few albums though generally well-accepted were not as praised as albums of old because they were no longer really bringing anything new to the table? So with this release they hit you right away with a female vocalist and a short song to show the new opeth treading unfamiliar waters (at least for them)



Whether a gimmick works wonderfully or falls on its face does not (in)validate that it is a gimmick.
