I don't know, it just doesn't feel like amazing material to me. I appreciate the technicality behind it, and the singing isn't bad or anything, it just doesn't appeal to me the way it probably does to you. This is a little vague, but I liken the band to a more technical and 'metal' version of Coheed and Cambria. Don't think that I think PTH are bad though, I gave Kezia 3.5, but yeah.
I think the lyrics are great actually.

Kezia is a 3.5 to me, too (I think that's really giving it a lil more credit, too), but this is flat-out amazing to me.

well I've listened to this two and a half times, and it sounds a lot more refined and well thought out, but I still can't really catch onto the hype.

Just ignore the hype, honestly. For me, this has hit a 5. After nearly two months of listening to it, plus having the lyrics to read along with, plus having listened to the instrumental version, it's just so well crafted and I seriously like pretty much everything about it. Review rating will not change, however I am going to re-write some stuff regardless

this is still running a very high 4.5 but im sure once ive had enough time with it, it will become a 5

yeah I am, by catching onto the hype I meant I can't see what everyone else sees in it.

K guys I don't get it. Can the rating you give an album when you write a review for it be different than a personal rating? If this is the case, all my album ratings are rated as if I wrote a review for them and not how much I like them.

I just changed my Kezia review to a 4 while my personal rating is a 5. But it's not something that should be different very often, its just some albums are so important to you personally while critically you can find plenty of faults.
|
| |
yeah, you can have a different personal rating than a review rating. A number of my reviews are rated differently than my own ratings of the album. I find it because in order to be objective, sometimes they must be different. For example, if I love traditional Irish music, and a metal band incorporates it into their music, I would be inclined to rate said band highly. However, not everybody will share my passion for Irish music, therefore I need to take this into account and review the album accordingly.

I suppose they're saying that the problem comes when you have to justify it.

I have yet to buy this. I currently have Kezia at a 5 because, simply, I think its classic. If this turns out better to me, I might bump it down from a 5 if this truly deserves a better rating. Well wait and see - my local cd store didnt have this...

I like that one (the one right above me), but I also like the beginning of Limb from Limb when Rody goes Split the sky asunder. This Message Edited On 02.07.08

Someone please tell me how this is relevant to a REVIEW, and not to a FORUM THREAD.
