"Where Strides the Behemoth" is my favorite on this one and that's probably because the drums on it are insane.

I want the breakdown at the end of where strides the behemoth to go on forever

weird to think they played with dm bands at this stage and people werent a fan of this

Album Rating: 4.5
Seriously. This was the closest they got to being a DM band themselves, especially on songs like Crusher Destroyer and Burning Man

crusher destroyer sounds more thrash than dm to me, i dont see any dm in this band at all

there is no thrash in this band but their earliest stuff (check the demos, as usual) is pretty metalcore adjacent
some of their craziest drumming as well

I could only imagine being at a Remission-era Mastodon live show... shit would be chaotic
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
this just goes so stupidly hard and does Mastodon riffs the best out of all their early work
like if you aren't shattering vertebrae headbanging to the climax riff on Workhorse you don't have an ounce of life in you

Crushes indeed, yet it just misses a notch (or some ingredient) to a potential 5, in relation to the next 3 albums, even if you guys hate any or all of those .

Ya I look at this album similarly to CoL’s The Beyond. The refinement of their sound afterwards is great, but I love the primal aggression of this record so damn much.

this album has a romantic quality missing from the rest of the discog, why its the best
