People rep The Gallery a lot but I think that Character is a better album overall and more representative of the classic DT sound. The Gallery is a great 'Gothenburg sound' album but Character is the turning point where they started to create the modern DT sound.

Well okay that's not true at all, they had already been experimenting with that sound palette for two albums but Character is where it really coalesced. Such a unique album.

Sucks, but Stanne, Sundin, or Jivarp would be worse news for me. Dude was pretty awesome though. He played guitar on Haven which led to Damage Done, so I think there's a good chance he helped the band work towards their best sound.
